Former Pakistan Cricket captain Shoaib Malik on 3 November 2015 announced his decision to retire from International Test Cricket. He will retire from Test cricket after playing the third Test match against England at Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The 33-year-old had made a comeback in the longer format of the game after five years. In the first Test against England in Abu Dhabi, he smashed a career-best 245 and in next five innings he was successful in scoring 0, 2, 7, 38 and 0.

• Shoaib Malik made his Test debut in 2001 against Bangladesh.
• Shoaib Malik’s bowling action has come under scrutiny (particularly his doosra) but he has had elbow surgery to correct this.
• In March 2010, Malik received a one-year ban from international cricket from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB); the ban was overturned two months later
• Malik has played 35 Tests, scoring 1898 runs with three centuries and eight half-centuries.
• He has so far taken 29 wickets, with his best figures 4-33 that came on the day, when he announced his plan to retire in Sharjah.
